Paula Patton is an actress and producer who is best known for her roles as a lead actress in the action spy movie Mission: Impossible - Ghost Protocol as well as the dramatic film Precious. The majority of her childhood was lived at Los Angeles where she came from a middle-class family. Her mother was a movie fan and encouraged her to love films when she was a kid. Paula participated in co-curricular school activities and was especially interested in the drama. She loved performing in stage productions together with her fellow students. She was a part of numerous high school plays at Hamilton Magnet Arts High School and decided to pursue acting as a profession. She was enrolled in at the University of Southern Cal's summer program, and enjoyed it immensely. She was awarded an assignment by PBS to create documentaries over a period of three months. She started as production assistant for television documentaries following her successful completion of the assignment. After completing her assignment and completing her documentary, she began producing films. She still had a dream to work as an actress although she was content in her present position. Her acting journey began with a small part in the film romantic comedy Hitch, alongside Will Smith. Since then, she has appeared in a number of famous television and film productions.
