Lee Roy Selmon's story combines football scholarships for his parents and a commitment in the local community. First of all Selmon was brought up with Lucious as well as Jessie Selmon. They lived on an agricultural property near Eufala in Oklahoma as the youngest of their nine children. The Selmons were also among the three siblings who represented Oklahoma on the field of football. The three brothers were all All-America. Lucious Jr. Dewey, Lee Roy, and Lucious Jr. Dewey started the 1973 season. Lee Roy has won both the Outland Award and the Lombardi award as the top lineman in America. In his time as the starting quarterback for Oklahoma and Sooners' starting quarterback, they went 32-1-1 and won two national titles. He was awarded a third scholarship in 1975 and designated a National Football Foundation Student-Athlete. Selmon holds a bachelor's degree in educational studies. Lee Roy was involved in volunteer work ten hour per week during his time at college. He settled down in Tampa after college, was a member of the Buccaneers for a period of nine years, and was three-times all-pro. The business venture he started began. In 1988, as an account relations officer at First Florida Bank of Tampa He was a member of the Special Olympics Easter Seals Baptist Church Ronald McDonald House United Negro College Fund South Florida Institute Black Life Hall of Fame Bowl Committee. It was the Junior Chamber of Commerce honored him in 1982 as being among the top 10 youths in the US. Lee Roy weighed 256 lbs and was a tall of 6'2 inches. In his time at for college, he was the head coach of the 1975 team. In 1993, he was a part of the University of South Florida as the associate director of athletics. Selmon has been inducted into the College Football Hall of Fame since 1988. In 1995, the Oklahoma City Chapter National Football Foundation presented the Distinguished American Award for 1989 to Lucious Selmon, Sr. Henry Bellmon was the Oklahoma Governor who presented this award.
