She was educated at Hyde Park Saint Thomas the Apostle Church's primary school. She credits her grandmother for getting her into jazz while she was a young. Khan, a teenager at the time, became an avid admirer of blues and rhythm music. In her eleventh year she founded a girl-group called Crystalettes with Taka.
